Stylish and refined with a great screen
At CES T3 got the change to have some hands-on time with the Gingerbread running Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, the latest Android handset from the manufacturer and certainly the most exciting phone from the company it in a very long time.

With a metal bezel the Arc looks stunning and certainly one of the most enticing Android phones. Measuring just 8.7mm it’s very slim and light and slightly curved (hence the name), but feels comfortable in your hand. It’s unmistakably Sony Ericsson though, with the trio of silver back, home and menu buttons at the bottom.
The highlight is the 4.2-inch touchscreen, it has what Sony Ericsson calls Reality diplay and Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, it certainly looks sharp, clear bright with smooth video playback.

Running a 1Ghz processor, it feels quick when flicking through the homescreens and it doesn't slow down when you swap between applications.
Running Android 2.3, on paper it's already surpassing the Google Nexus S, for a start you get Timescape, which aggregates social networking contents from Twitter and Facebook and it captures 720p video, although there's only one 8-megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson’s equipped the phone with an Exmor R sensor and bright f/2.4, which it claims has great low-light performance. We weren’t able to try it out at the time, but with Sony Ericsson’s impressive pedigree with cameraphone we’ve got high expectations. Elsewhere connections include a 3.5mm jack and HDMI mini,

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc will be out later in Q1, there's no news yet on carriers or UK prices.
